Report from Faraday cage

Why we cannot hear as many of you as we wished? The answer is simple:

The only hotel who agreed to our antenna instalation was Pousada de Coloane. The problem is that we are encircled by close mountains to West, East and North. The mountain wall begins just a couple of meters behind our antennas and peaks to 172.5 m. So the angles of radiation are 40-60 degrees depending on direction. Any more questions?

We spend a lot of money on this trip and we are as frustrated as you. Only making CQs and not copying anything…

Antenna work

Today we finished antenna work – we put up Harp (VDA) for 17m and 15m. So everything is in hands of propagation gods…Let’s hope they will be with us for another 10 days. Our location has mountains in close distance in East – North – West directions. Only to south there is beach and sea (long path to North America – see photo).

Import Licence

IMG_2712Today we received Macau import licence for our radio equipment. That means all paperwork possible from Poland is done. Now we are anxiously waiting for flight to Hong Kong, then ferry to Macau, then station antennas setup, then inspection from DSRT officials, then licence issue, then let’s hope in the air….
